2012—2014. Spanning several mediums, personas and genres, Rolando’s self-portrait series inspired by the protagonist in MALTE explores duality through the lens of performance, fashion and design. Set against Los Angeles, the result is an intimate and imaginative look into parallel universes that are magical; that are external and internal, that blur the line between visibility and invisibility. Together, the tangible and intangible paint a picture of a queer brown experience that is magical realism in the hood.
